Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes Recipe

This quick recipe for molten chocolate lava cakes is perfect for Valentines Day or National Chocolate Souffle day on the 28th! They don’t take long to make, so you can make them right after dinner. They should be ready by dessert time to have warm, with some vanilla ice cream!

  • 12 ounces of semisweet chocolate chips

  • 2 sticks (eight ounces) of butter

  • Seven eggs

  • ⅛ cup sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

  • ½ cup flour

Step one: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and grease the muffin tins.

Step two: Put the chocolate chips and butter in a microwave- proof bowl. Heat it up in thirty second increments in a microwave, taking it out to mix, until it is melted.

Step three: Mix together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla.

Step four: Pour the egg mixture into the bowl with the chocolate mixture. Make sure to whisk the chocolate mixture while pouring in the egg mixture so that the eggs don’t scramble!

Step five: Sift the flour into that mixture.

Step six: Pour the mixture into the greased muffin tins and put in the oven. Bake at 425 degrees for about 10 minutes. Test them after about 7-8 minutes. They are done when they are still jiggly on top, but set on the outside. Even though they might look a little undercooked, they are supposed to be molten in the middle and you don’t want them to burn!
