Another meal that you can make in this chilly month? Pasta bolognese! It is super easy, super delicious, and great for the colder months that are coming! It also makes a lot, so you can easily reheat it for yummy leftovers on another night when you're in a rush. Here’s how you can make it:
Ingredients:
1/2 large yellow onion, cut into 2-inch chunks
1 large carrot, peeled and thickly sliced
1 large stalk celery, thickly sliced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon table salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup whole milk
Pinch of nutmeg
3/4 cup dry white wine
1 (28-ounce) can whole San Marzano or other good quality tomatoes with thick juice
12 ounces cooked pasta( depends on how much you want to make)
Instructions:
Step 1: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large 12-inch frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground sirloin and cook, crumbling and taking apart the meat with a wooden spoon, for 5 to 7 minutes, until the meat has lost its pink color and has started to brown. Stir in the garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes( if you want it to be spicy) and cook for 1 more minute. Pour 1 cup of the wine into the pan and stir to scrape any leftover browned bits. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1 1/2 teaspoons pepper, stirring until combined. Bring to a boil, lower down the heat, and let it bubble for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil, add a tablespoon of salt, a dash of oil, and the pasta, and cook according to the directions on the box(the pasta box).
Step 3: While the pasta cooks, finish the sauce. Add the nutmeg, basil, cream, and the remaining 1/4 cup wine to the sauce and bubble for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring every so often until thickened. When the pasta is cooked, drain and pour into a large bowl to serve family or friends. Add the sauce and 1/2 cup Parmesan and toss well. ENJOY!
