Easy Tweaks to Make Your Mask More Comfortable

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

Masks can be super annoying and uncomfortable, right? We totally understand. That's why we came up with this list of tips and tricks to make them more bearable!

1. Pull the top of your mask under the nose of your glasses- This will create a barrier so that your breath doesn’t get behind your lenses, preventing them from fogging up.

2. Get or make masks with fun patterns- this will encourage kids to wear them. Another way to get kids to wear them? Wear them yourself. If everyone else is wearing one, kids will probably be more willing to wear them.

3. Put dish soap on both sides of your lenses- this will create a transparent layer on your glasses that is resistant to temperature changes, and won’t fog up. Just make sure to rub in the dish soap and rinse it off!

4. Put a tissue on the bridge of your nose- this will also prevent your glasses from fogging up because the tissue will absorb the condensation.

5. Put essential oil on your mask- this will keep your mask smelling good and might even improve your mood! Depending on the scent, you could be calmed(lavender), energized(peppermint), or more clear- minded(eucalyptus).

6. Sew buttons onto a hat or headband- that way, you can put the ear loops of your mask on the buttons so that they won’t irritate your ears.

7. Fold up the bottom of a mask- then pull it down, so that it is a little bit smaller. Just make sure that the mask is clean so that you aren’t inhaling germs instead of keeping them out..

8. Iron your mask- this might not make a big difference in comfort, but the heat will kill the germs.

9. Wear your glasses a little lower on your face- This will help prevent fogging if you wear glasses, or even just sunglasses.

10. Tie the ends of your mask- if your mask doesn’t have the sliders that you can use to make your mask smaller, tie knots on the ends for a better fit. But when you tie your mask, don't tie it so close to where your ear might be, or else it could irritate your ears very much.
