These amazing hot chocolate bombs are perfect for a cold, snowy day in the winter! They are pretty easy to make, and you can freeze them for anytime when you might just need a warm, delicious cup of hot cocoa. They are filled with hot chocolate powder and marshmallows so all you have to do is plop them into warm milk to see them burst into chocolatey goodness! They are also AWESOME plain. They are just like yummy truffles and are pretty great! You can also fill these up with gold and red sprinkles for a more regal surprise for the Chinese New Year! And if you're looking for chocolate molds, you can get them in a variety of small, fun shapes from some craft stores (such as Michaels) and baking stores (like Wilton) as well as Amazon.
- 1 cup of chocolate chips or coating chocolate
- Hot chocolate mix/powder
- Mini marshmallows
Melt the hot chocolate in the microwave (20 second intervals – stirring in between). Be careful not to over melt them though.
Coat your silicone molds with the melted chocolate and freeze for 10 minutes
Take out of the freezer and fill each one with hot cocoa powder and a couple mini marshmallows
Finishing with more of the melted chocolate to cover each bomb (most people take another step to put two molds together – but ours are still beautiful and absolutely yummy!)
Freeze for another 10 minutes
Finally, drop one or two in hot milk and enjoy the fun!
