Nail Supplies You Never Thought Of

When it comes to nails, if you don’t have the right supplies you can feel limited. If all you have is nail polish, you might think that you can’t do any designs. However, that's not true! You can actually use common household items to make cool designs on your nails! This month, we are going to be showing you how to do tape designs, which are, as the name suggests, are designs that you make using tape! To start off all of these designs, just apply your base color and let it dry.

  1. Diagonal halves- Place tape over half of the nail diagonally. The part that is covered by the tape will show your base color. Paint over the nail. It is okay if you get some polish on the tape, that is what it is there for!

  1. Thin lines- This one is a little bit different because you need thin tape. You can buy nail tape, which is very thin tape, or you can cut a piece of normal tape into thin strips. So, once you have the tape, you can apply it however you want. We did two diagonal lines in one direction and one more line crossing over it by putting the tape on, painting over the entire nail, and pulling the tape off.

  1. Diagonal layers- Apply the tape, leaving only a small triangle uncovered. Once that triangle is dry, do the same thing in another color on the other side to create a layered look.

Want to add something extra? You can make intricate designs really easily if you have a nail pen! You can easily draw just about anything, from a football to a flower. We really like this one from Sally Hansen. Just make sure to seal it in with a top coat or it will come off really quickly. For a good top coat, try out this one from the same brand. And don’t be fooled by the red outside, it is definitely a clear top coat!
