Thinking about doing some spring cleaning? Well, you definitely should! Studies show that having a cluttered and unorganized home can actually add more stress to your life. And once you have a bright, organized home again, it will be worth all of the cleaning that you did. So here are some tips to help with spring cleaning!
Tips
Cleaning can take a while and a lot of effort. But these tips can help you be as efficient as possible while tidying up your home.
1. Use the right tools to help you out. Certain tools can make cleaning a lot faster and
easier. A steam cleaner is a perfect example of this because it can help clean surfaces
without releasing chemicals into the air. However, it can still kill 99.99 percent of bacteria
and germs.
2. Focus on tasks that you don’t do more often. Spring cleaning is a chance to do less
common tasks, and if you start working on more common ones, you could get caught up
in them, which takes away time from the once-a-year ones. One idea is to do your special
spring clean shortly after your regular weekly clean, so you don't get caught up dusting
and vacuuming.
3. Don't be afraid to use hacks. These days, there are plenty of hacks to make your
cleaning easier! While you might be reluctant to use them, they can actually be very
helpful! For example, one hack is to put dryer sheets at the bottom of your trash can to
help mask odors and absorb spills. This could be very useful!
Tasks
There are so many tasks to do when you do a big spring clean that you might forget about some of them! Now, we are going to remind you of some of those things.
4. Clean out drawers. Drawers with clothing in them might be dirty because the items in it
are preventing it from being cleaned. Also, looking through drawers might also help you
realize that you don’t need certain stuff anymore and declutter.
5. Clean your refrigerator! So many people forget to clean their refrigerator. What you want
to do is just take a few things out of one area of your fridge and clean the wall and floor in
that area. Then put the stuff back in and take other stuff out and repeat that! This way,
you won’t have a whole bunch of stuff all over your kitchen at once, and the food isn’t
going bad from being out for too long! You might have to take some breaks with this task
so make sure to plan ahead.
6. Go through your pantry. This task can take a long time, but you're going to have to do it
at some point! This will help you find things in your pantry in the future. Make sure to look
at expiration dates!
7. Clean light fixtures. If you have chandeliers, make sure to clean them so that they shine
more brightly! This is just a nice touch, especially if they have smudges.
8. Deep clean your carpets. If you don’t do this more often, cleaning your carpets is a
good idea. Especially if you have a thick carpet, crumbs, small toys, and other things
could be hiding in it.
9. Clean your floors. And we don’t just mean mop them. Floors can get scuffed and worn,
but you can keep them looking brand new in a variety of ways. For example, there are
markers made especially for wood. You can use them to disguise scrapes or other
markings on the floor.
