Everyone, it is officially a new year! A fresh start! This month we are sharing some tips and tricks to help keep our environment safe. You can do so many new things! And one thing that I highly recommend trying is saving the earth. So many people are aware of a huge problem, aka climate change or global warming, but just dismiss it or don’t believe in it. But it is happening. And everyone is going to be affected by it,
Unless we stop it from getting worse.
There are so many ways that you can help. Not being specific, you can try to lower your carbon footprint and release less CO2 into the air. CO2 is an abbreviation for carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is one of many greenhouse gasses, which make the climate warmer. But being more specific, one thing that you can do is go meatless just one extra day a week (if you are not already vegetarian or vegan). This might sound like a tiny little thing, and you might be thinking “What will this do?”, but once you hear the facts, you’ll probably be convinced. Going meatless once a week for a year can reduce your carbon footprint by about 350 pounds of carbon. Another thing that you can do is plant moss. Most people don’t know this, but moss is amazing. I did some research for a project recently, and found that only 12 sq ft of moss can take in the same amount of CO2 as 275 trees! That is a huge difference, so even planting a little bit of moss can make a huge difference. Now, moving on, we might not be traveling by plane very much due to COVID-19, but if you do, you should look into non-stop flights. This would help because landings and takeoffs use a lot of fuel and produce more greenhouse gases than just flying straight. Doing this can save about 220 lbs of CO2 for each person!
There are so many more ways that you can help save the earth, but maybe you can try these to start. And even if they seem small, you are still helping to save our planet!
